Philippine car sales picked up slightly in February 2026, showing an improvement over the market’s January performance.

According to available industry data, local car sales last month exceeded 37,700 units, the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) stated in its recent report. Member brands of CAMPI and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) contributed 35,842 units to the total, improving upon their January sales by 6.4%.

Compared with the same period in 2025, however, there has been an 8.5% decline in total sales.

Sales of electrified vehicles or xEVs continue to grow this year, with 3,098 units sold by CAMPI-TMA brands in February accounting for a market share of 8.64%. That represents an 18.7% increase over January’s 2,610 xEV units sold and 70.6% growth year on year.

Hybrid cars brought in the highest sales among electrified models last month with 2,479 units, followed by battery EVs and plug-in hybrids with 340 and 279 units, respectively. Note that BYD Cars Philippines, which offers one of the broadest lineups of PHEV offerings in the local market, is not part of CAMPI, so its market performance is not included in this xEV sales breakdown.

CAMPI president Jing Atienza noted that CAMPI members have been “expanding and diversifying” their local lineups with more energy-efficient and electrified models—a crucial move now that the ongoing tensions in the Middle East are affecting the global oil supply, driving up fuel prices (especially of diesel), and influencing “how Filipino motorists choose and use their cars.”
