The first month of 2026 saw a slowdown in total Philippine car sales, but an increase in the number of electrified vehicles sold compared with the same period last year.

For January 2026, the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) reported a total industry sales figure of 35,053 units. That figure represents a 26% drop from December’s 47,371 units sold, and a 10% decline from January 2025 sales.

Member brands of CAMPI and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) contributed 33,696 units to the total, according to the report.

Of note, 2,610 units of electrified vehicles or xEVs—hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and battery EVs—were sold by CAMPI-TMA member brands in January 2026. This is again lower than December’s 4,358 units, but 1,600 units higher than January 2025’s tally. Those 2,610 units make up 7.75% of the total CAMPI-TMA vehicle sales.

CAMPI president Jing Atienza states that the “relatively lower sales during the first month of the year is expected, following the year-end rush in the automotive market.” He added that despite the slowdown last month, the January sales level “aligns with the steady pace observed during the second half of last year,” so the industry may still meet the 500,000-unit sales target for the year.
