On Sunday, April 6, 2025, a fire erupted at First Industrial Township, a Special Economic Zone located in Tanauan City, Batangas. The fire started in a stockyard of a manufacturing plant and quickly spilled over into an open space where at least 1,000 cars were stored.
Around 200 cars were damaged, and the source of the fire is still under investigation. The Bureau of Fire Protection suspects that ‘Spent Bleaching Earth’ chemicals and the hotter-than-normal climate may have triggered the fire. SBE chemicals are made from processing and refining edible oils.

The fire started at 1:19pm, and after 15 firetrucks were deployed, the situation was settled at around 2:20pm. The BFP confirmed that no fatalities or injuries occurred throughout the blaze.
