Chinese carmaker GAC Motor has remained steady in the Philippine market over the past year. In 2026, however, the brand is shaking things up.
Formerly under the Astara umbrella, the Chinese automaker will now be operating under GAC Group subsidiary GAC International Philippines. As the new company takes over, it assures GAC customers that all authorized dealerships will remain fully operational, and that warranty coverages, aftersales services, and parts availability will “continue without disruption.”

GAC International Philippines has also announced the ONE GAC strategy, wherein it will integrate the GAC, Aion, and Hyptec brands. The latter two, if you may recall, made their local arrival in October last year at the Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit.

The new GAC subsidiary has also confirmed that it will be launching “six to eight new products” throughout 2026. “These introductions will further strengthen GAC’s competitiveness and demonstrate the company’s long-term commitment to investing in the Philippine market.” This just means we can expect to see more from the brand in the coming months.

GAC has had strong outings over the past few years, surpassing 3,500 unit sales for the GS3 Emzoom in June. While we don’t know exactly what’s in store for the brand, what we’re sure of is that GAC International Philippines has momentum on its side throughout this transition.
