Chalk another victory to the Thailand automotive industry. According to Grand Prix International president Prachin Eamlumnow, German carmaker Volkswagen will soon put up a manufacturing facility in Thailand. Grand Prix International is the organizer of the Bangkok International Motor Show, which Eamlumnow started and has headed since 1979.
Though no other details were mentioned, Eamlumnow shared that the establishment of a manufacturing facility in Thailand is important if Volkswagen wants to gain a bigger foothold in the local car market.
Eamlumnow added that it's still too early to tell if only Volkswagen-branded vehicles will be produced, or if the facility will also assemble vehicles from Volkswagen Group's other brands like Audi.
