It’s great that we don’t have to rely on unreliable taxis anymore because we have ride-hailing services. But when it comes to ride-hailing services, we’re at the mercy of a market leader like Grab. Most of the time, it’s good. But we’ve all felt that bit of anxiety when you need a ride and no car is available.
Now Grab Philippines says it has improved its services, specifically the reliability of booking a ride. The ride-hailing service said in a press release that in the first half of the year, nine out of 10 passengers trying to book a Grab ride were successfully allocated a driver within an average of 21 seconds—reflecting a faster booking time versus the year before. This is because of better driver allocation.
“With our data-driven tools, we offer fares that are fair for both our passengers and driver-partners amid ever-changing market conditions,” says Grab PH Chief Operating Officer Ronald Roda. “Fair fares mean our driver-partners can earn a living wage enough to cover their everyday expenses and costs related to maintaining a vehicle. This is approximately two times the current minimum wage in Metro Manila. Along with this, we also maintain service accessibility and affordability of our services for consumers—all in accordance with set fare guidelines by the LTFRB.”
Grab promotes fare fairness in dynamic market conditions—including weather, traffic, and changes in supply and demand—to encourage more drivers to be active on the roads. This helps passengers book a GrabCar ride and reach their destinations safely and conveniently.
Grab is also highlighting several new features to its platform:
1) Advance Booking - As the name says, a customer can book up to seven days in advance, with a flexible reservation window and guaranteed on-time pickup. Grab says this feature has a reliability rate of 98%.
2) Group Rides -Users can conveniently initiate a Group Ride through a widget located on the transport page, where they can choose “Arriving Together” or “Departing Together”. Each Group Ride participant can choose independent stops, while sharing a standard base fare to save on cost.
3) Multi-taxi Type Booking - You might have used this feature already. To ensure the fastest booking time for a ride, Grab can search different modes of transport at the same time, whether it be taxi, four-seater GrabCar, or a six-seater GrabCar.
