Guess how many cars Toyota PH\'s president wants to sell in 2014

There\'s no stopping him, apparently

\"Toyota

At his company\'s annual media thanksgiving party a few days ago, Toyota Motor Philippines president Michinobu Sugata asked: \"What else can we do?\" Yes, that is an apt question from someone who has led his firm to its 12th consecutive Triple Crown, selling a record 75,587 units (Toyota and Lexus) in 2013 to again grab honors for most passenger car sales, most commercial vehicle sales and most overall sales.

Sugata bragged that, in doing so, TMP now owns a 42% share of the local automotive market--which is as close as you will ever get to a monopoly. (By the way, that number means 42% of total sales by the members of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines; if you factor in the sales figures of the members of the Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors, particularly Hyundai, Chevrolet and Subaru, Toyota\'s slice of the pie will look a little bit smaller.)

So, the question: What else can Toyota Motor Philippines do?

Sugata answered this by declaring that TMP will sell a total of 90,000 units in 2014.

Wow. Imagine that many new cars this year. Can our roads still take it? Anyway, good luck to Toyota\'s competition--their work is pretty much cut out for them.
