Hino Motors Philippines (HMP) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) have been quite busy this 2019. The former has consistently shown its support for the latter, with the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) in full swing.
HMP alone has distributed around 400 modern PUV units across the country since the inception of the program in 2019. That number will continue to increase, as it has recently turned over 23 new modern PUVs to the Novaliches-Malinta Jeepney Transport Service Cooperative (NJMTSC), with 29 more units to follow by next month.
“As part of our commitment to deliver ‘Total Support’ to the Filipino community, we continue to actively support the government’s jeepney modernization program for a safer and more comfortable public transportation system in the Philippines. We are honored to be part of this transformation and our partners can trust that we will work closely with relevant stakeholders to help elevate the commuting experience here in the country,” shared HMP chairman Vicente Mills Jr.
HMP’s modernized jeepneys were recently granted a Certificate of Compliance by the DOTr for adhering to the Philippine National Standards set by the government. Within the coming months, HMP is also expected to turn over 58 Class III and 72 Class II PUVs to other transport cooperatives.
