Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) donated five Stargazer units over to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Command Group last week, further building upon the pair’s partnership. In the past, the PNP has made use of the Elantra and the Starex in its patrol operations.

Now, the PNP joins the, er, ranks of local motorists driving around in subcompact seven-seaters through the Hyundai Stargazer—and it’s the 1.5 GLS IVT Premium variant at that.

We have seen police cars from Lamborghini, BMW, Porsche, and other not-so-typical carmakers all over the world. Sure, a high-powered cop car would be helpful in a high-speed chase or an emergency response that requires the backup of just two policemen and no transport of culprits and suspects.

But we do things differently here in the Philippines—we’re all about practicality and utility. Now with five Hyundai Stargazer units, the PNP has more flexibility in its patrol fleet. The extra row of seats, customizable cargo space, and the reliability of a Hyundai car should all contribute to the PNP’s service to the public.

HMPH also extended a donation it had previously made to the PNP last year, which gave the police force after-sales support for its current fleet. That should help our police force and their vehicles for the next two years.

The Hyundai Stargazer will surely been an eye-catcher in PNP livery, and we’re excited to see what it’ll look like with police lights and sirens.
