The Lexus RC production prototype that Toyota\'s luxury car brand announced two weeks ago, won\'t stay that way for too long now that the Japanese automaker has revealed that the car will go into production soon and be on sale \"in the second half of 2014.\"

As we mentioned then, the RC has a sporty and dynamic profile, with a wide stance and overhanging wheel flares to give it a more aggressive look. The exterior also incorporates familiar Lexus design elements, including the spindle grille, three-in-one independent LED headlights inspired by the LF-LC, and an evolved version of the L-shaped rear combination lamps.

The biggest news, however, is that the RC will be offered as two versions.

The RC350 will be powered by a 3.5-liter gasoline engine that puts out 314hp and 380Nm, and is paired with an eight-speed sport direct-shift transmission.

The RC300h, on the other hand, will make use of a 2.5-liter direct-injection gasoline engine that produces 176hp and 221Nm, and an electric motor rated at 141hp and 300Nm, \"for high power and fuel economy.\" Serving this hybrid powertrain is an electric continuously variable transmission.
