The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) has now released its latest automotive sales report, and it appears there have been some movements across the rankings over the past month.

Looking at the bigger picture, CAMPI members have amassed a total of 167,324 vehicles sold so far in 2026, 12.1% lower than sales in the first five months of last year. Of course, Toyota Motor Philippines is still at the top with 83,282 units sold, but that reflects a 9.1% drop from last year’s numbers. Mitsubishi Motors Philippines remains in second with 29,786, and Suzuki Philippines in third with 7,730. Those two saw 18.6% and 13.3% drops, respectively.

Zooming into the BEV sales—because we know many of you are interested in this part of the market—it appears Tesla picked up the pace in May as it took the top spot. The American carmaker sold 829 electric cars in May, a few hundreds more than VinFast’s 561 in the same month. Year-to-date, however, VinFast still has the lead with 2,283 compared to Tesla’s 1,390.

Among plug-in hybrid EV brands, Jetour Auto Philippines still holds the top spot. It showed consistent growth, topping its April numbers and selling 463 units in May. Geely comes in at a close second with 439, seemingly still riding on the momentum of the EX5 EM-i’s launch.

As far as HEVs go, it’s Toyota that still dominates that space, and by a huge margin. It sold 1,769 of its hybrids last month, significantly more than second-placer Ford Philippines’ 491.

Looking again at the industry as a whole, it’s even clearer now that preference has really shifted, that’s despite sales of electrified vehicles slightly dropping from 6,297 in April to 6,027 in May. It’s interesting to note that according to CAMPI’s report, even with that small decline, BEV sales skyrocketed to 1,843 units sold in May compared to just 977 the month prior. But for even better context, year-to-date xEV sales (BEVs, PHEVs, and HEVs combined) have grown from 133.5% year-on-year with 24,356 in 2026 versus 10,431 in 2025.

As with previous reports, though, we need to highlight that BYD Cars Philippines is not included here as it is not a member of CAMPI. Last year, the carmaker only shared its sales figures after the year concluded, so we might need to wait until January again before we get official numbers. In any case, we’ll continue keeping you all posted on these sales figures as we eclipse the first half of the year, so watch this space.
