TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - PhilAuto 2014 is not your usual auto show

A different kind of automotive exhibit is being staged at the SMX Convention Center in the SM Mall of Asia complex until tomorrow, May 31. Instead of having exhibitors that cater to end users, PhilAuto 2014 was established as a business-to-business trade show "to provide a platform for the industry to source for new suppliers, and build partnerships and network." As a matter of fact, PhilAuto is reportedly the first trade show of its kind to be held in the country.

"I am pleased that over 150 companies are represented in the exhibition, showcasing a truly complete range of auto parts and supplies, accessories and service/repair equipment," said AMB Events Group regional vice president Richard Yew. AMB Events Group is the Malaysia-based organizer of PhilAuto 2014. "The participation of pavilions from China, Taiwan, India, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand reflect our efforts in making this a truly international event that supports the development of the automotive aftermarket business in the country."

On display by the show’s over 150 exhibitors are different kinds of automotive aftermarket products, from air-conditioning systems to industrial machines like tire-changers and scissor lifts. One exhibitor even sells trucks made from China. Most of the exhibitors are also grouped together based on their country of origin, so if you're particularly fluent in one foreign language--even Polish, as there's a booth from Poland inside--networking will be easy. Locally made electric vehicles are also on display at the show.

Perhaps, other than the lack of cars on display at the show, the biggest difference between PhilAuto 2014 and your regular motor show is this: You can count the number of booth babes with your two hands. It's really all about the business.
