The official numbers are in, and it looks like the Philippine automotive industry had a really big year in 2023.
According to the latest report from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), the industry posted a total of 429,807 vehicles sold last year.
There were 109,264 passenger cars and 320,543 commercial vehicles sold. Of the latter’s total, light commercial vehicles mainly pickup and sports utility vehicles accounted for 79% of sales at 248,148 units.

Unsurprisingly, of the 29 listed CAMPI members, top of the list is Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) with 200,031 vehicles sold. This was way up by 14.9% from TMP’s 2022 tally of 174,106, but its market share slightly went down to 46.54%—you can probably attribute that to the addition of new CAMPI members this year.

Following TMP in second is still Mitsubishi Motors Philippines (MMPC), with 78,371 units sold—up by 47.3% year on year. Third is Ford Philippines with 31,320 vehicles sold, up by 26.8% from 2022. Fourth is Nissan Philippines (NPI), which also posted a 27.9% growth en route to a 27,136 sales total for 2023. Completing the top five is Suzuki Philippines (SPH) with 18,454 vehicles sold. The rankings for these five brands are identical to that of 2022.
The sixth and seventh place are also identical still, with Isuzu Philippines Corporation at 17,607 and Honda Cars Philippines at 16,645. Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) gained the most places in 2023 as it jumped from 13th to ninth with a sales total of 9,130. Coincidentally, Geely retains its ninth position 6,852 vehicles sold. Finishing in 10th is Kia with 5,033.

“2023 was a very strong year for the industry and we are very excited about 2024,” said CAMPI president Atty. Rommel Gutierrez. “Positive economic outlook, new model introductions and the electrification trend are expected to contribute to record-breaking sales this year.”
