With the exemption of electric vehicles (EV) and hybrids from the price hikes brought about by the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion Law (TRAIN), our country's push for cleaner transportation is now in full swing.
Well, okay maybe not. But while we aren't seeing electrified cars plying our streets on a regular basis, at least carmakers like Nissan and Hyundai are actually bringing in EV units and hybrids like the Leaf and Ioniq to show off at events. We can at least claim that the movement is at as full a swing as it's ever been.
Speaking of events, electric vehicle manufacturer EMotors Inc. (EMI) has partnered with the Philippine Retailers Association (PRA) to make the 25th National Retail Conference and Expo from August 9-10, 2018 a zero-emissions event.
Together, the EMI and PRA will provide the event with free ZÜM e-shuttle transports. It's the first time in the conference's history that it will utilize electric mobility.
"Environmental protection is an important sustainability initiative which our member companies care about," says PRA president Rose Ong. "The collaboration with EMotors is a great way to showcase the ease of use of e-vehicles that creates a positive impact not only on the environment, on health & wellness, but on cost savings as well.”
EMotors president Elizabeth Lee shares the same sentiments: "The collaboration with EMotors is a great way to showcase the ease of use of e-vehicles that creates a positive impact not only on the environment, on health & wellness, but on cost savings as well."
The National Retail Conference and Expo will see over 800 retail companies and about 3,000 participants flocking to and from the event venue, including delegates from Singapore and Thailand.
Frankly, this seems like it's the perfect opportunity to show our Southeast Asian neighbors that we're headed in the right direction when it comes to the shift towards cleaner mobility. Will you be dropping by?
