You know your event has gearhead cred when there are supercars parked in front. This was the scene at the recent grand launch of Lotus Cars Manila in Greenhills, San Juan. The opening drew in the men who enjoyed--and could afford--pricey four-wheeled toys. So don’t be surprised to see a Lotus Elise or Exige in Bonifacio Global City on weekends, where these people like to gather.

Among those who formally cut the ribbon were renowned car enthusiast and politician JV Ejercito, San Juan Mayor Guia Gomez, Autohub Group president Willy Tee Ten, and Autohub Group chairperson Benita Tee Ten.

"It is with great pleasure that we’re given the chance to be part of this revolution, to keep pace with the increasing customer demand and deliver the unique Lotus pure driving experience here in the Philippines," Willy Tee Ten said during his welcome speech. "So expect bigger things to happen in the near future."

After the formalities, the showroom was transformed into a club, complete with a DJ and free-flowing booze. Positioned in and around the venue were the sexy Lotus automobiles: Elise 220 CupEvora SExige S and Elise Club Racer. If more nightspots were like this, maybe we’d go out more.

Lotus vehicles have always been known as driver’s cars, and not for those who merely like to show off. Although looking at the sexy metal on display--with their leather-lined cockpits and sleek profiles--these Lotuses are certified head-turners.
