In case you missed it, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) celebrated National Road Safety Month in May. Throughout that time, the government agency organized a comprehensive training program for transportation operators and hosted the National Road Safety Summit. There, stakeholders from all over the industry gathered to reinforce their advocacy.

The Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) remained a staunch participant and partner throughout all these activities. Together with the DOTr, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, the TMA carried out the National Road Safety Training program in Antipolo, Rizal.

Drivers, mechanics, and operators from the Lungsod Silangan Transport Service and Multi-Purpose Cooperative underwent the training session, learning about modern PUV standards, vehicle safety and maintenance, and pre-driving inspections.

“Through initiatives like this, we hope to empower transport communities with practical knowledge that can help improve both vehicle readiness and driving discipline in everyday operations,” he continued.

At the following National Road Safety Summit, the TMA exhibited what commercial vehicle manufacturers contribute to promoting road safety and responsible operations. Updated driver education, strict vehicle maintenance, and collaboration between the industry and the government continue to be the pillars of the organization.
