VinFast has called its shot. During a recent conference held at the Maybank Performing Arts Theatre in Bonifacio Global City, CEO for VinFast Philippines and Southeast Asia Toti Zara said that he believes the Vietnamese carmaker will be the top-selling BEV brand by the end of 2026 or in early 2027.

According to data from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, that title currently belongs to Tesla, which sold 2,424 units in 2025. That same data also reveals that VinFast sold only 112 units, placing 28th out of 33 listed distributors.

Separately, BYD Cars Philippines boasted over 26,100 units in sales last year. While we don’t have the specific splits between the carmaker’s hybrid and fully electric offerings, BYD confirmed that it moved a total of 4,068 Seagull EVs.

It will be an arduous climb to the top, but VinFast has an entire ecosystem behind it. MayBank looks to be its latest financing partner, while the V-Green brand of EV charging stations has given all VinFast owners free use until March 2029.

The Vietnamese carmaker has also extended its Trade Gas for Electric promotion, which offers owners of ICE vehicles an additional 3% discount when they switch to EVs with VinFast. The brand’s Residual Value Guarantee program is also in full swing, securing up to 90% of a new owner’s overall investment.

Operating behind all of these is Green GSM, which exclusively uses VinFast vehicles in its ride-sharing operations. It also aims to be the number one transportation platform in the Philippines in the near future.

With the fully electric VF3 and a wide range of crossovers on offer, does VinFast have what it takes to reign over the Philippine EV market? Sound off in the comments.
