In case you forgot, it's Father's Day this coming Sunday (June 19). If you're a member of a tight-knit family, chances are you're planning something special to mark the occasion. A reunion lunch? A road trip out of town? A surprise gift?
We have a better idea, which should be ideal if the man you intend to celebrate happens to be passionate about automobiles. Why not bring him to "Wheels & Grills" in Bonifacio High Street in BGC? Happening on June 17 to 19, the event is essentially a car show featuring fun activities and even food trucks. Which means you can have your planned lunch here as well.
These car brands will display their latest models: Ferrari, Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, SsangYong and Subaru. Joining them are motorcycle brands Kawasaki and Suzuki.
Aside from the production cars, various mod rides from different car clubs and garages will help entertain the gearhead in you.
Other activities include:
* Die-Cast Car Collectors of the Philippines' display and swap meet;
* Sphero BB-8 race;
* Pop’s pop-up bazaar selling car-branded merchandise;
* Top Gear quiz night (June 18, 6pm); and
* Live performances by Johnoy Danao (June 18, 5pm) and Ebe Dancel (June 19, 5pm).
As mentioned, food trucks will be catering to your gustatory appetite along 9th Avenue.
An added bonus: If you shop at any Bonifacio High Street store and purchase items amounting to P1,500, you'll get a "passport" that you can use to collect stamps from the car show's exhibitors. When you secure all the necessary stamps, you qualify for a chance to win two tickets to the 2016 Singapore Grand Prix--with airfare and accommodations, of course.
Best of all? Admission to the event is absolutely free. So bring the whole family. And you're definitely welcome even if you're not a father yet. See you this weekend!
