After months of hype, Land Rover will finally reveal its smallest, lightest and most fuel-efficient Range Rover. The Evoque will have its public debut at the Paris Motor Show next month and will be available by mid-2011.
“The Evoque helps to define a new segment for premium compact SUVs that are more sporting and stylish,” said Dr. Ralf Speth, chief executive of Jaguar Land Rover. “It makes a strong statement about the future direction of the Range Rover brand and will have a powerful emotional appeal to a very broad range of premium car buyers.”
The Evoque will be available in three design themes: Pure, Prestige and Dynamic.
In Pure, the Evoque’s exterior is complemented by a stylish, clean interior done in neutral colors, with soft-touch, leather-wrapped materials contrasting with real-metal brushed aluminum trim on the major surfaces.
Prestige comes with 19-inch wheels and metallic details, and an interior that is almost entirely leather-wrapped.
In Dynamic, the Evoque gets 20-inch wheels and unique bumpers, sills, grille and tailpipes. Contrasting roof and spoiler color comes as a no-cost option. It also has a dark interior combined with splashes of bright contrast colors to go with the perforated leather seats and unique sports detailing.
The Evoque will be the first Range Rover to offer customers a choice between the full-time, intelligent four-wheel-drive system the brand has always been known for, and a low-carbon, fuel-efficient, two-wheel-drive option.
The Evoque will be available in two 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engines with power outputs of 148hp and 187hp, and in a two-liter, six cylinder engine that produces 237hp. Stop-start technology will be available on all diesel manual derivatives while both diesel and gasoline engines will be offered with an updated six-speed automatic transmission.
