It's been over a year since TopGear.com.ph announced that Toyota Motor Philippines is getting one unit of the Lexus LFA sports coupe. And it's finally happening.
Tonight, the one and only Lexus LFA in the Philippines will be unveiled at the Lexus Manila showroom in Taguig City.
Lexus Manila's Carlo Chungunco said the LFA comes in the "whitest white" exterior with a red-and-black interior trim. We have not seen the unit but we imagine it to look pretty much like the one in the gallery below.
The Lexus LFA had its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2009. Its 4.8-liter V10 engine has been recognized as one of the top ten engines of 2010 by the Automotive Engineering International, the global magazine of the Society of Automotive Engineers. Three other international awards have been bestowed on the Lexus LFA since its launch.
Only 500 units of the LFA will be built and each one is hand-assembled by technicians at the Motomachi Plant in Toyota City at a rate of no more than 20 per month.
Dreaming about taking the Lexus LFA out for a test drive around the Bonifacio Global City? Keep dreaming as it may never happen in real life unless you have truckloads of cash to buy the unit.
Considering how precious the Lexus LFA is in the Philippine automotive market, only one person has been authorized to drive the supercar.
"He was sent to Japan for the training and operation of the unit," Chungunco said.
But don't be too sad. You may still enjoy looking at the LFA as it will be displayed at the Lexus Manila showroom for the public to check out starting October 12. We now wonder if you'd still manage to sleep tonight.
