Mazda Motors is reportedly recalling almost 500,000 Mazda 3s globally due to en electronic problem that could prevent the car's windshield wiper from working.
According to Reuters.com, roughly 494,500 Mazda 3 are affected by the recall and that of the total, 157,700 units are in North America, 91,600 in Europe, 84,000 in China and about 20,000 in Japan.
The recall is said to cover Mazda 3 units that were shipped between January 2008 and July 2010. This means it affects both the previous-generation Mazda 3 (which is what we still have) and the current-generation models (which have been on sale practically everywhere else except the Philippines).
Ford Group Philippines, which handles the local distribution of Mazda vehicles, is already in the process of verifying if the locally-assembled Mazda 3s are also affected by the recall.
