Mercedes-Benz has combined spectacular design with motorsport-derived technology and driving dynamics at the highest level to come up with the most powerful C-Class ever in the C63 AMG Coupe Black Series.
"AMG has its roots in international motorsport. The new C63 AMG Coupe Black Series is the best proof there is for the permanent transfer of technology from the race track to the road," said Mercedes-AMG GmbH chief executive Ola Källenius. "The numerous successes in the DTM, the customer sports range featuring the SLS AMG GT3 and our commitment to Formula 1, where we have been providing the Official F1 Safety Car and the Official F1 Medical Car for the past 15 years, continuously spur on our engineers and technicians. The C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series embodies the new AMG brand claim, Driving Performance, like no other AMG model."
Powering the car is a naturally-aspirated 6.3-liter V8 engine that puts out 517hp and 620Nm of torque. Helping the engine produce that amount of power are the forged pistons, connecting rods and lightweight crankshaft that have all been derived from the SLS AMG while a seven-speed AMG SpeedShift sports transmission aids in propelling the car from zero to 100kph in 4.2 seconds.
Up front, the capabilities of the C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series is hinted at by the air intakes in the front apron, the two vents in the aluminum bonnet to help cool the engine and the black front splitter. At the rear, the car is all-business as well as the dramatic black diffuser is sandwiched between the chromed twin tailpipes of the AMG sports exhaust system while a spoiler lip on the boot lid serves to reduce lift at the rear axle.
Rounding out the exterior package are titanium grey, 19-inch light alloy wheels that help fill out the wings and plays a significant part in the dynamic appearance of the car.
Step inside the C63 AMG Coupe Black Series and you'll be greeted by the two AMG sports bucket seats up front followed by the absence of the rear bench seat, the lightweight black DINAMICA microfiber upholstery on the center panels of the seats and doors and the nappa leather and DINAMICA microfiber-clad AMG performance steering wheel.
The car's motorsport-inspired interior is capped by red accents like the seat belts and contrasting topstitching on the steering wheel, seats, door center panels and armrest, the center console and the shift lever boot.
The C63 AMG Coupe Black Series officially goes on sale in January 2012.
