Angkas CEO George Royeca personally visited the office of Cainta mayor Elenita Nieto to apologize for a traffic jam created by a convoy of Angkas riders last Tuesday, February 3. A video of the convoy and subsequent traffic jam circulated social media, which prompted Nieto to take action.
Cainta’s mayor then sanctioned the motorcycle-taxi company, while citing community service as an additional penalty for the inconvenience its riders created. Royeca quickly took responsibility for the convoy and apologized for the trouble.

Additionally, Royeca promised to go to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) himself and pay the fines ensued by each rider. Royeca stressed the importance of using events like these as learning opportunities, and wake-up calls to do better for the general commuting public. He not only offered an apology to the mayor, but to the riders involved as well—understanding his shortcomings in upholding proper road safety within Angkas.
“To the hardworking Angkas bikers at sa mga ka-gulong who uphold discipline and professionalism every day—pasensya na po at nadamay kayo,” said Royeca. “I know how dedicated you are, and I owe it to you, and to the public to restore your trust.”

Nieto accepted Royeca’s apology and expressed appreciation for his accountability. Acknowledging that accountability is a two-way street, Nieto also promised to ensure that Angkas riders in Cainta will be compliant with road etiquette and traffic rules.
“Indeed, there are no mistakes if lessons are learned, and this case is no exception,” said Nieto. “We accept their apology, and hope that every rider takes this as a learning experience. We will also ensure they follow through on their promise to serve the community.”
