For those coming from Buendia, it has been a slow slog getting into Bonifacio Global City (BGC). Things can get pretty congested even during off-peak hours and a standstill during rush hour.
In a bid to alleviate some of that, BGC has announced a new traffic scheme for those coming from Buendia via the flyover. The new scheme will also affect those coming from EDSA via Kalayaan Avenue into 32nd Street.

For those coming from the Buendia-BGC flyover, they are no longer allowed to turn right into 2nd Avenue. 2nd Avenue is the first turn motorists will see upon entering BGC. To ensure there are no attempts to enter that street from the flyover, concrete barriers will be put in place.
As for those coming from EDSA via Kalayaan Ave., the same concrete barrier will split the lanes between those who will go straight and those who need to turn into 2nd Ave.
So, where to turn if you need to go right? Motorists from the Buendia-BGC flyover and 32nd Street, they will have to go to Rizal Drive to reach their intended destination. This new traffic scheme takes effect on Sunday, June 1, 2024.
Only time will tell if this route will be effective in reducing the congestion along the Buendia-BGC flyover. Until then, don't get caught out by the new traffic scheme.
NOTE: This article has been corrected to say that the turn is right, not left.
