It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas—especially judging by the worsening traffic congestion on our roads. To help decongest major thoroughfares, especially during rush hour, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has coordinated with mall operators to adjust their opening and closing hours.
From November 17 to December 25, 2025, mall hours in Metro Manila will be from 11am to 11pm. “Effective po ito Monday hanggang Friday; exception po dito ang weekends and holidays,” announced MMDA chairman Atty. Romando Artes during a press conference on October 17.

Mall deliveries, meanwhile, will be allowed from 11pm to 5am. Finally, mall-wide sales may only be held during weekends, the official added.
No announcements have been made yet, but historically, the train lines in the metro also extended their operating hours in the week leading up to Christmas, to accommodate the influx of passengers as people do their last-minute shopping or opt to take public transport to avoid traffic. In case you miss the last train, remember that the EDSA Busway runs 24/7, although with fewer buses plying the route in the wee hours. Check out our recent EDSA Busway experience here.
