The Department of Public Works and Highways is limiting access to the Quezon Bridge in Quiapo to light vehicles following its engineers' initial inspection of the structure after a fire broke out and razed the shanties below the structure earlier this week.
The DPWH is only allowing light vehicles on the bridge while its engineers are further assessing its structure and its components "so as not to put at risk the lives of motorists and commuters." In addition, the DPWH will also prohibit the traffic buildup of light vehicles on the bridge.
Motorists are therefore advised to take three other bridges in the area that will also cross the Pasig River: the Ayala Bridge, the MacArthur Bridge and the Jones Bridge.
