It’s another day, another show cause order (SCO) for the Land Transportation Office. Remember the motorcycle rider who tried covering his plate to avoid no-contact apprehension? It’s a driver who’s now done it to his four-wheeled car. Sigh.

I’d say “come on guys, we’re better than this,” but clearly, we aren’t. As if the last incident wasn’t a warning enough, somebody just goes ahead and does the exact same thing on a different vehicle.

The vehicle in discussion is a Toyota Vios that was spotted along Taft Avenue. A concerned motorist took a video of the said Vios with its plate covered by an unauthorized plate and uploaded it on social media. The LTO has since taken notice and placed the vehicle under alarm.

The agency also ordered the registered owner and the involved driver, if in case they are two different people, to appear before the Intelligence and Investigation Division at the LTO Central Office later this week. The summoned individual/s must submit a formal explanation on why their driver’s licenses should not be suspended or revoked.

A few instances in the past where someone used an unauthorized plate on public roads showed that something like this will not end well. Now with NCAP in full effect, it’s all the more glaring to be doing something like this. We’ve said this before and we’ll say it again: Whay if instead of trying to avoid NCAP, let's just abide by traffic rules and avoid making any violations?
