Destinator? DST? Whatever it’ll be called, the upcoming Mitsubishi 7-seat crossover is set to make its world premiere pretty soon. It’s set to be revealed at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show, and it’s safe to say that it’ll be the brand’s biggest launch of the year.

There have been a few details revealed from government papers over in Indonesia. At the same time, the company did confirm its launch date. Now, Mitsubishi has kicked off a teaser campaign to make more noise.

Mind you, it’s not your typical teaser campaign as they’re not even showing the car yet. No shadowy outline, and no close up shots here. Instead, they decided to put the new crossover in a black box and bring it all over Indonesia. Inspired by blind boxes from the toy industry, perhaps?

Still, at least Mitsubishi gave out two key details of the DST/Destinator. First, it’s claimed to have the most ground clearance in its class. But as to what class it’s competing in is still unclear. Given that it’s likely a stretched XForce, the new model might be similar in size to the Toyota Zenix. For reference, the Zenix has a ground clearance of 185mm.

The other crucial detail is the availability of five drive modes. But perhaps that shouldn’t come much of a surprise as the XForce has a similar arrangement. That said, the XForce has four modes, namely Normal, Wet, Gravel, and Mud, so the fifth is a bit of a mystery. It’s possible that the fifth mode might be Tarmac given that some models have it.

Of course, more details will be revealed come launch day, but there might be a few more teaser shots before the big reveal. Until then, we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more updates.
