It’s been a couple of years since the Toyota Zenix made its world premiere. Since then, it’s been a steady seller and a solid choice for those who’d like a true-seven-seater that beats the number coding scheme. We also went as far as calling it as one of the best MPVs anyone can buy today.
Granted, it’s more a compliment to the ever popular Innova than replacement, but it’s a car we love having around the office. In other markets, there are pretty interesting variants available. There’s even a Suzuki-badged version sold in India and pitched as a luxury MPV.

But in this case, we go to Indonesia for our interesting Zenix variant. It’s called the Modellista, and it gives the MPV a little more visual zing over the standard model.

Hold on a sec, you say, isn’t Modellista only for the Japanese market? If you frequently read our stories, you know that it hasn’t been the case for quite some time already. The Modellista name has been applied to the Hilux, Fortuner, and even the humble Vios.

So, what does the Zenix Modellista have to offer? Well, it’s primarily a cosmetic package, just like most Modellista models that have come and gone. To kick things off, there’s a gloss black grille for a sportier look, along with a deeper front chin with to make it look lowered.
The side then gets a skirt with a door garnishes for more visual flair, along with window visors. As for the rear, it also gets a kit for the rear bumper. For the interior, there is a Modellista garnish and finished off with special floor mats. The only thing we wish for is a set of lowering springs for that VIP wagon vibe.

Okay, none of these make the Zenix any faster, but it’s a neat way to make the MPV stand out in a sea of other bog standard variants. That said, should the Zenix Modellista be sold here? For now, it’s only for the Indonesian market, but perhaps it’s time for this model to spread its wings.
