Here’s something Quezon City residents can get excited about: The local city government has launched a new e-market project in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President.
Starting tomorrow, May 12, residents can order fresh produce such as meat, fish, fruits, and vegetables from the Kamuning market via the Community Market mobile app, and have everything delivered to their doorsteps. Local tricycle operators and drivers associations (TODAs) will carry out all the necessary deliveries.
“This is also a win-win situation, as local vendors will be able to continuously make a living while giving customers access to fresh produce from the comfort and safety of their homes,” said city mayor Joy Belmonte.
As of now, coverage is still limited, but there are already a number of barangays that can avail of this service, namely: Kamuning, Laging Handa, Mariana, Obrero, Paligsahan, Pinagkaisahan, Roxas District, Sacred Heart, and South Triangle. For details on how to access and use the app, check out the OVP’s statement below:
Vice President Leni Robredo’s statement reads: “Sa pagtutulungan ng ating Tanggapan at ng Quezon City Government, ang proyektong ito ay nagbibigay ng pagkakataon sa mga small market vendors at tricycle drivers na magkaroon ng mas maayos na kita, sa gitna ng epekto ng Enhanced Community Quarantine sa kanilang kabuhayan.”
