For those planning on going to Baguio, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has a very important announcement. Due to the heavy rains in the past weeks, the agency has closed down Kennon Road in the meantime due to erosion.
The advisory was issued over the weekend, September 7, 2024, at 7AM. The eroded section is along Camp 2 in Tuba, Benguet.

Local Government Units (LGUs) and the DPWH are currently repairing the affected part of the road. There is no definite timeframe as to when the road will be reopened, and DPWH-Cordillera said ‘the current unstable site condition has hampered clearing operations. Any activity may cause further disturbance on the said section.’
Per DPWH-Cordillera’s public advisory, motorists are advised to take alternate routes. Those going to and coming from Baguio can take Marcos Highway or the Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual road. DPWH will post another advisory once Kennon Road is made one-lane passable.
