The Department of Transportation (DOTr) will be facing a big reality check, as acting secretary Giovanni Lopez has obligated select officials to commute from their homes to their offices.
Starting Wednesday, September 17, these officials will need to use public transportation once a week, “to have first-hand experience in the operations of various modes public transportation to better understand the predicaments of the commuting/riding public,” as described in the memorandum.

After their weekly commutes, they will need to submit accomplishment reports that outline their experiences and recommendations. Fare tickets and receipts will also need to be included in the report. These reports will then be shared during the department’s executive committee meetings.
