We know it’s a lot of words: The reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction is better known as the RT-PCR swab type of testing for COVID-19—and even better known as the gold standard for confirming whether or not you have the disease. In case you ever need it, The Medical City - Ortigas (TMC) in Pasig City will be adding this type of test to their drive-thru services starting today, August 14.
Here’s what you need to know:
Where: The COVID testing site is located at the Basement 1 Exit along MD Camacho Road
When: Mondays to Sundays, from 8am to 5pm
Contact: 8988-1000 ext. 3300 (strictly by appointment only)
According to the TMC website, the RT-PCR swab test costs P6,000 and results will be sent through email within two to three days. Each vehicle is allowed a maximum of six individuals to be tested.
This is the second type of COVID-19 test offered by the hospital. TMC first launched an antibody test drive-thru service on July 7. The RT-PCR test differs in that it requires a mucus sample via swabs processed through specialized laboratory machinery. The antibody tests, on the other hand, use a blood sample.
