Great news for commuters and frequent users of the MRT-3, the train line will be extending its operating hours starting today, March 24, 2025. The stations across the MRT-3 line will push back respective closing times by around one hour.

More trains are also expected to be deployed during peak hours to accommodate the influx of passengers. Neither the MRT-3 management nor the Department of Transportation (DOTr) have yet to comment on how many more passengers the train line can carry. The two agencies have also not stated how many more trips the extended operating hours will provide.

Just last week, DOTr secretary Vince Dizon inspected three MRT-3 stations and recommended longer operating hours and more trains to ease the overall commuting experience on the train line. The MRT-3 general manager was also relieved of his post shortly after Dizon’s inspection.

The extended operating hours will be in effect from Monday to Friday, and will only impact the closing times of each station. First trips and station opening times will remain status quo.

Starting today, North Avenue Station will close the station entrance at 10:25pm, as opposed to its previous time of 9:25pm. On the other end of the line, Taft Avenue will have its final trip at 11:04pm, one hour after its previous 10:04pm closing time. Every station in between has also extended its final trips by one hour. You can view the full announcement and the new MRT-3 operating schedule here:
