All MRT-3 stations, from North Avenue to Taft Avenue, are now equipped with free Wi-Fi, as announced by the Department of Transportation and the Department of Information and Communications Technology.
The duo opened the network from the Ayala Station, where they also unveiled a new turnstile that accepts cashless payments. Commuters just need to connect to DICT Free Wi-Fi for All and agree to the department’s terms and conditions to enjoy the free connectivity.

From the images shared, the free network was able to pull a download speed of about 88.4Mbps, although its final numbers were not documented. If you’ve hopped on the MRT-3 recently and tested out the free Wi-Fi, tell us about your experience in the comments.

It should be noted that the free Wi-Fi is only available at the stations, not while in transit and on the tracks. While the DOTr has been adamant on speeding up foot traffic within Metro Manila’s train systems, free and dependable Wi-Fi should be helpful for those who need to access their GCash Commuter QR code or load up their Beep cards before entering the platforms. Those waiting for their trains or in line to purchase single journey tickets may also appreciate another source of connectivity.
Free Wi-Fi and the improved turnstiles are the most recent upgrades that the MRT-3 has undergone this year. Back in June, the train line answered the pleas of commuters and extended its operating hours by about 60min. And just this month, Dalian train cars that were purchased back in 2014 had been finally installed on the line to carry more passengers.
