A black SUV accelerated into the walkway and entrance at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 earlier today. The crash left at least four injured and two fatalities. Currently, the driver of the SUV is in police custody while the injured are being treated at the hospital.

Videos circulating on social media showed what looked to be an idled SUV accelerate into the outer railings, and then crash into airport visitors and the wall of the departure entrance.

New NAIA Infrastructure (NNIC) president Ramon S. Ang has since promised to shoulder the medical expenses of the survivors and provide financial assistance to the families of the deceased. NNIC has also committed to supporting the Philippine National Police and Manila International Airport Authority Security in their investigation efforts.

There is still no definite cause as to why the SUV suddenly sped into the entrance area. In a separate statement, NNIC urged the concerned public to wait for verified updates from official investigative agencies.
