A portion of North Avenue bound for Elliptical Road will be closed beginning September 24, 2025, to make way for the pedestrian tunnel excavation of the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) project. It will take effect for more than two months, lasting until November 30, 2025

The affected eastbound lanes begin just past the intersection of North Avenue and Mindanao Avenue Extension. Motorists heading from North Avenue to Elliptical Road are advised to turn right onto Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago Avenue (formerly Agham Road) en route to their destination.

Enforcers will guide eastbound local traffic heading to North Avenue destinations such as the DENR Compound and the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center. Meanwhile, the westbound lanes of North Avenue will remain open, but those coming from Elliptical Road must exercise caution when passing through work areas as they turn right onto North Avenue.

The pedestrian tunnel being constructed is for the Quezon Memorial Circle Station, which is the stop immediately after the North Triangle Common Station. Once completed, the MRT-7 will have 14 stations from North Avenue in Quezon City to San Jose del Monte in Bulacan. According to the latest update from the Department of Transportation, partial operations are expected to begin in 2027, with the line operating across 12 stations from North Avenue to Sacred Heart.

“We sincerely ask for the public’s cooperation and understanding for this temporary inconvenience, as we work toward delivering a modern, efficient, and comfortable public transport system for all Filipino commuters,” the agency said.
