By now, you’ve probably heard the major works will be done along the EDSA-Santolan flyover for a very long time. We’re talking both northbound and southbound being closed for 11 months.

The closure of the major flyover will commence on April 25, 2024. However, there is another road that will be heavily affected by repairs. It’s another major thoroughfare, Roxas Boulevard.

If you frequent the area, you’ve likely seen it by now as roadworks began last April 5, 2024. From April 5 to April 30, 2024, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will conduct reblocking along south and northbound bridge approach of Roxas Boulevard Flyover. Other repairs that are being done include pouring of new concrete, asphalt overlaying, and application of thermoplastic pavement.

At the same time, the DPWH will also conduct road repairs along northbound portions of Roxas Boulevard. It also started on April 5, 2024 but its completion will take much longer than the flyover reblocking. Per the government agency, it’s estimated completion will be in 150 days.

Should it all be on schedule, the northbound side of the boulevard should be all clear by September 2, 2024. Fingers crossed all works are completed by then as it’s right at the start of the traffic-filled ‘ber’-months. Works on damaged roads will be made along Roxas Boulevard will cover areas of Pasay City, after Lourdes Street, before Gardens By the Bay Residences, and along Manila City, from Remedios Street to Sands Residences.

Per the DPWH, the affected areas of Roxas Boulevard will remain passable and that works on the road will be done at night. Heavy traffic is, of course, expected, and motorists are advised to take alternate routes.
