San Miguel Corporation (SMC) recently announced that there will be temporary closures along Skyway Stage 3 in preparation for the new expressway’s official opening on January 14.
The elevated tollway was initially scheduled to be closed from 10pm to 4am on January 6 and 7. However, it appears there will be more of these closures leading up to the big launch to make way for more construction activities.
Skyway O&M Corporation has announced via Twitter that from January 8 to 13, the Buendia-Balintawak portion of the new tollway will remain closed from 10pm to 4am. If you were planning to pass through here in the next few days, take note.
In addition, the company has also announced that from January 10 to 31, the Alabang-Zapote northbound on-ramp and southbound off-ramp will both be closed from 12am to 3am. Meanwhile, the steel ramp near Alabang will also be closed to southbound motorists following the same schedule.
There was no specific mention of it, but we think these closures on the southernmost part of the expressway will be done to free up space for the ongoing Skyway Extension Project. Check out the announcements below:
Given that these road closures fall on the wee hours of the night, we’re hoping these won’t have adverse effects on traffic in these areas. That said, we’re also looking forward to seeing these infrastructure projects finally completed, so we wouldn’t mind the small compromise.
