Going around Metro Manila this weekend? So, too, will the Metro Manila Subway’s tunnel boring machine, and it’s expected to cause some traffic slowdown on certain roads in the metro.
The machine will be transported from Manila Harbor Center Port to Doña Julia Vargas Avenue in Pasig City from February 2 to 3 and from February 4 to 5. Once transported to the area, it will be used to construct the tunnels connecting Ortigas Avenue Station, Shaw Boulevard Station, and Kalayaan Avenue Station of the Metro Manila Subway.

Transport will occur from 10pm to 4am on the aforementioned dates. Expect heavier congestion than usual on the following roads:

- 5th Avenue – 11pm to 12am
- Gen. Araneta Avenue – 12am to 1am
- Gilmore Avenue – 1am to 2am
- Ortigas Avenue to C5 – 2:30am to 3:30am
- Doña Julia Vargas Avenue – 3:30am to 4am
If you intend to pass through those areas, you may instead take alternate routes.
The Metro Manila Subway is a 33.1km line spanning from Valenzuela City to Parañaque City. There are 17 stations planned, including a direct connection to Terminal 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Target completion is in 2028, with partial operations planned for 2025.
