The MRT and LRT lines now offer 50% discounts on fare tickets to senior citizens and PWDs. The train systems previously offered the discount to just students, but today President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the Department of Transportation announced that the promotion will be extended to the two demographics.
Students, senior citizens, and PWDs just need to present their IDs at the ticket counter to avail of this discount on single-journey tickets. However, the discount will be automatically applied to senior citizens and PWDs who have the prescribed white-colored Beep card. This promotion is redeemable until 2028, on any day, including Sundays and holidays.

And in celebration of National Disability Week from July 17 to 23, PWDs can enjoy free rides on the MRT and LRT starting from 7am to 9am and then from 5pm to 7pm.

The President and the DOTr also welcomed new Dalian-branded trains on the MRT-3 line. The trains were purchased back in 2014 and are now finally in use. Each car boasts a larger 1,200-passenger capacity, which further bolsters the overall ridership on the MRT-3.
A total of 48 train cars were purchased all those years ago, and a group of senior citizens were welcomed aboard their first use at the MRT-3 Santolan station.
