Two supercar owners were issued show cause orders by the Land Transportation Office; one for reckless driving, the other for using an unauthorized plate. The two cars in question are an Aston Martin Vantage and a Ferrari 488 Spider.
The owner of the 488 Spider is being summoned after the vehicle was seen traveling without an authorized plate number. Instead, the Italian supercar had a custom plate bearing the word ‘OPPA.’ The Vantage owner, on the other hand, is being summoned after the car was allegedly caught speeding at 200kph along Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City.

Both cars have been alarmed by the LTO, and the owners’ driver’s licenses have been suspended. The Ferrari owner is scheduled to appear before the Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) on May 19 to explain their actions and why they should not be held liable for ‘failure to attach a motor vehicle license plate’ and ‘improper person to operate a motor vehicle.’

The Aston Martin owner is being summoned to appear a day later, on May 20, to answer charges of reckless driving and being an ‘improper person to operate a motor vehicle.’ Failure of the owners to attend the hearings will be considered a waiver of their right to be heard. Cases will then proceed based on the evidence gathered by the agency.
“Hindi sukatan ng pribilehiyo o estado sa buhay ang pagsunod sa batas,” warned LTO chief, Asst. Secretary Markus Lacanilao. “Lahat ng motorista ay may pananagutan na maging disiplinado at responsable sa paggamit ng kalsada. Ang mga ganitong klase ng iresponsableng gawain ay hindi natin kukunsintihin dahil malinaw na nalalagay sa panganib ang kaligtasan ng publiko.”
