TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - €1.4 million Ferrari 599XX Evo turned over to winning bidder

Last June, Ferrari mounted an online auction on www.ferrari.com to raise funds to help the victims of the earthquakes that struck Italy's Emilia-Romagna region on May 20 and 29.

The highlight of the auction was a one-off 599XX Evo sporting a special commemorative plaque signed by Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo and the two Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 drivers, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa. As an added bonus, the car would be personally turned over to its new owner by the two F1 drivers at the 2012 Italian Grand Prix at Monza.

With the Italian Grand Prix happening over the weekend, the winning bidder, Benjamin Sloss, along with his wife Christine, finally got the keys to the new car not only from both Alonso and Massa but from di Montezemolo himself. Also, both Sloss and his wife got an additional souvenir by having their photo taken in front of the Ferrari motorhome with both Alonso and Massa.

Sloss won the car by placing a €1.4 million bid (approximately P74.407 million) for it at the auction. The 599XX Evo has a reported commercial value of €1.3 million.
