For those who'd like a Porsche Cayenne that's faster than the Cayenne S but a little more restrained than the Cayenne Turbo, the German carmaker presents the perfect compromise: the Cayenne GTS.
Making its global debut at the Auto China 2012, the Cayenne GTS is powered by an upgraded version of the Cayenne S's V8 engine that puts out 414hp, 20hp more than its lower-rated stablemate.
Putting all those horses down to all four wheels is an eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission, which lets the Cayenne GTS run the zero-to-100kph sprint in 5.7 seconds. The vehicle reaches 160kph in 13.3 seconds before it tops out at 261kph. With its integrated auto start/stop function, Porsche claims that the Cayenne GTS's fuel consumption is at 9.346km/L.
Differentiating the Cayenne S from its lower-end stablemates are its Cayenne Turbo front end, high-gloss black frames and trims, prominent side skirts, wider wheel arches and a distinctive roof spoiler with a twin-wing profile.
Inside, the GTS features a leather interior with Alcantara elements and eight-way adjustable front sports seats.
The Porsche Cayenne GTS will be officially available in July 2012.
