In December 2012, new Chinese carmaker Qoros revealed that it would launch its very first model, the GQ3 compact sedan, at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show next month. With just two weeks to go, it seems Qoros can no longer wait until the show's opening since it has finally given us a glimpse of the GQ3's interior and styling details.
According to Qoros, the clean and elegant design direction of the GQ3 draws heavily on contemporary European design and has been developed to give it and the company's other models an unmistakable brand identity.
Designed to offer generous space and a high-quality interior finish, Qoros's models will also feature an infotainment system that is claimed to be unique in the automotive industry. Developed in-house by Qoros, the eight-inch capacitive touchscreen was designed for minimal driver distraction by replacing the multitude of buttons and switches that have become all too common in many modern car interiors. The system also reportedly features an advanced navigation system, extensive social-networking connectivity, and the ability "to monitor their car's health and book dealer service appointments."
Most important, Qoros aims to achieve top scores in both European and Chinese crash tests for all its models before sales begin in both continents later this year.
The GQ3 will reportedly be offered with two four-cylinder 1.6-liter gasoline engines: a naturally aspirated unit that delivers 125hp and 155Nm, and a turbocharged version that produces 154hp and 210Nm. Both engines will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission as standard, with an optional six-speed dual-clutch transmission available for both. A stop-start system will be available from launch.
