Any car nuts here planning to do some shopping over the weekend? If your answer is yes, you might want to head over to SM Megamall, as a certain German automaker has a special treat waiting for you.
Porsche is bringing in an FIA World Endurance Championship-spec 919 Hybrid race car to display at the SM Mega Fashion Hall from June 17 to 19. The setup will be part of the Porsche Festival where a live feed of this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race will be screened.
It's not very often a vehicle of this caliber drops by. WEC regulations have molded the 919 into the epitome of Porsche efficiency, safety, sustainability and vehicle design. Its high-strength aluminum turbocharged 2.0-liter engine puts out a whopping 900hp, and the components are made mainly of lightweight carbon. Basically, this thing is insanely fast and ridiculously light. Just wow.
The car will try to defend its title this weekend at the Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France.
So, will the 919 once again come out on top? We're willing to bet on it. After all, Porsche has won a record 17 overall victories since 1970. Again, you can watch all the action via the event's live feed, so drop by if you can.
