The second weekend of the 2025 Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup saw over 10,000 visitors flood towards the South of Manila for a series of exciting street races.
Eight official races took place, while exhibition drivers drifted and drag-raced throughout the day. Even Car Club members got a chance to hit the track with their beloved Toyotas.
It was a thrilling weekend of racing, but unfortunately, on the 10th lap of the second Novice Class race of the day, Toyota Motor Philippines president Masando Hashimoto crashed into a wall, which flipped his car and took him out of the contest. It was a scary sight to see, but thankfully, he was swiftly taken to a hospital where it was confirmed that he sustained no injuries from the crash.

After being cleared at the hospital, Hashimoto even returned to Villar City to join his fellow racers at the awarding ceremony. It was all smiles from the president as the night continued with celebration for that day’s drivers and anticipation for the next racing weekend.
TMP’s president later took to Facebook, where he shared his personal updates and thoughts about the crash. Sadly, his Toyota Vios #4 was heavily damaged, but Hashimoto confirmed that the cabin remained intact, protecting him throughout the collision. “I lost my beloved Vios #4, but she saved my life. We racers experience crashes all the time, many times, which is part of racing, but I have seen firsthand the wonderful fact that Toyota cars are safe, robust, and keep the drivers protected.” said Hashimoto.
He is set to complete this year’s racing season as the 2025 TGR Philippine Cup will run its final races on August 7-9, 2025.
