Last week, Yamaha Motor Philippines (YMPH) announced its racer lineup for 2024. Highlighting the lineup were familiar names in Bornok Mangosong, Pia Gabriel, April King Mascardo, Gian Carlo Mauricio, and Mckinley Kyle Paz.

This weekend, three of those racers—Paz, Mascardo, and Mauricio—made headlines as the Yamaha Philippines Racing Team bagged podium finishes at Round 1 of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC).

Paz—also called the ‘Wonderboy’—made history as the first-ever Filipino to finish at the podium in the SS600 category with his third-place finish in the second race of the first round. Mascardo and Mauricio who competed in the UB150 category both had strong outings, with Mascardo getting a third-place finish in Race 1 of Round 1.

This is just the first of six rounds of the ARRC this year. The next round will commence at the Zhuhai International Circuit in China on the weekend of April 19 to 21.
