To those who went to the recent Manila International Auto Show and wondered why Mazda Philippines didn't have a booth there, the simple answer is that the company's biggest offering for this year--the new CX-5 compact crossover--didn't make it to the country in time for the event.
But fans of the Japanese brand now have a reason to celebrate, as Ford Group Philippines is holding a Mazda Expo on April 21 to 22 at the NBC Tent inside Bonifacio Global City. (A separate press event is scheduled for April 20.)
The centerpiece of the event? The CX-5, of course. What's more, the new Mazda 3 will also be introduced here together with its crossover sibling.
According to a source inside FGP, they will have as many as 10 units of the CX-5 and 10 units of the 3 just for the public test drive. "With that many demo units, visitors won't have to wait long for their turn to drive the cars," said our source.
Want to know the model lineup for both the CX-5 and the 3?
We were told that the CX-5 will have two variants, both powered by a 2.0-liter SkyActiv engine mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic gearbox. The 3, on the other hand, will have three variants: a 2.0-liter gasoline automatic sedan, a 1.6-liter gasoline automatic sedan and a 1.6-liter automatic hatchback.
"This year will be huge for Mazda," declared our source. "This is the year of Mazda's SkyActiv technology. We will pour our efforts into educating the market about this groundbreaking technology."
So, if you've been waiting for either the CX-5 or the 3, you know what to do next.
