Shelby American celebrates its 50th year of producing high-performance vehicles by producing a new line of anniversary-edition Ford Mustang-based GTS, GT350 and Super Snake muscle cars.
The 50th-anniversary GTS is based on either the Mustang 5.0 GT V8 or the Mustang V6, and mostly boasts an aesthetic package. Inclusions are custom-stitched Shelby/Katzkin limited-edition interior upgrade including the gold contrasting stitching and the 50th-anniversary logos on the seat backs, floor mats and billet aluminum badge. The only performance modifications done to this model are the upgraded rear rotors and pads that are stopped by Shelby/Wilwood six-piston front gloss black calipers, and the Borla performance exhaust.
Based on the Mustang 5.0 GT V8, the 50th anniversary Shelby GT350 has 525hp under the hood, thanks to its supercharger. Besides having aesthetic upgrades, it's also equipped with racing suspension, a caster camber adjustment kit, a unique Borla center exit exhaust, a unique taillight trim, 1967-68 Mustang-style backup lights and side rockers with functional integrated brake cooling ducts.
The top draw, however, is the 50th anniversary Shelby GT500 Super Snake with 750hp courtesy of the Shelby/Ford Racing/Whipple supercharger. Completing the package are the Borla cat-back exhaust system, Shelby/Ford Racing suspension with adjustable damper, caster camber adjustment kit, white ball billet short throw shifter, one-piece Shelby/Dynotech aluminum driveshaft, A-pillar gauge cluster with autometer carbon fiber-faced gauges, Shelby/Super Snake hood with pins and carbon-fiber body components.
With just 50 black and 50 white units for each of the three models being made, these 50th-anniversary Shelby Mustangs are guaranteed to be collectibles in the future.
